Kinetico Premier XP® S250 FAQ
- How does the Kinetico Premier XP S250 know when to regenerate?
The S250 XP has a built-in water meter, so it regenerates based on your household's actual water use rather than a timer. It may regenerate more often when you have a house full of guests, or not at all for several days while you're on vacation.
- Will I run out of soft water while the S250 is regenerating?
No. The S250 XP has twin tanks. When one tank needs to regenerate, service automatically switches to the other tank, so you have soft water 24 hours a day.
- What is countercurrent regeneration?
Countercurrent regeneration is the process the S250 XP uses to clean its resin beads. Because Kinetico systems regenerate with soft water, they can use this process instead of an old-fashioned 4- or 5-cycle regeneration, which reduces salt and water use and regenerates the resin more effectively.
- What is the difference between the S250 XP and the S650 OD XP?
Both are non-electric, twin-tank Kinetico Premier XP® softeners. The S650 OD XP adds Overdrive®, which runs water through both tanks at once for higher flow, and is rated among the world's most efficient water softeners. A local Kinetico dealer can test your water and recommend the right model for your home.
Kinetico's XP feature lets your dealer calibrate the S250 more precisely to your home's water conditions. The result is optimum efficiency, operational cost savings, and waste reduction, without any electronics to program.
The S250 uses two resin tanks. When one tank needs to regenerate, service automatically switches to the other, so you never go without soft water. Go ahead and do a week's worth of laundry in one day.
Instead of an old-fashioned 4- or 5-cycle regeneration, the S250 uses countercurrent regeneration and cleans itself with soft water. This uses less salt and water and regenerates the resin beads more effectively. It's all powered by moving water, not electricity, and it removes hardness and soluble iron*.
